Asian Chapters

OpenID is a global phenomenon; its momentum exists around the World where local communities are rallying to promote OpenID in broad joint efforts. These communities range from individual advocates all the way up to some of the biggest websites and brands who are committed to supporting the standard and ensuring that it remains free for anyone to use.

To help support these local Asian communities, the OpenID Asia (”OIDA”) is encouraging the creation of local chapters. These chapters are officially a part of the OpenID Asia and work within their own communities to support the Foundation’s mission of fostering and promoting the development and adoption of OpenID as a framework for user-centric identity on the Internet. If you wish to start a local chapter, please contact openidinfo @ gmail.com

1 - Form
National Chapters (“Chapters”) are official subsidiaries of OIDA, and thus must be incorporated as legal entities engaged in non-profit activities. However, with special derogations, it is possible to be introduced as a “Chapter,” even if the organization is not incorporated, but its non-profit nature can be established.
2 - Registration
Chapters must register with OIDA by submitting a request email to openidinfo @ openidasia.org stating that Chapter Members unanimously and unequivocally agree to its policy. All contact information used by this Chapter must be supplied. After admission of the Chapter, an agreement will be signed between OIDA and this Chapter.
3 - Leadership Team
Chapters must have a designated leadership team, consisting of at least two people.
4 - Internet site
Chapters must have their own web site, listing events, news and membership. OIDA can host the site or make the domain name available to the Chapter.
5 - Translation
Chapters must provide as much information as possible, in their countries’ language(s); Chapters agree to translate in their country’s language all information and important documents passed on to them by OIDA.
6 - Intellectual Property
Chapters must agree that any intellectual property developed or held by the Chapter must be freely available for use to the OpenID Community. Chapters may not use any such intellectual property to advantage any commercial enterprise or business over another.
7 - Activities
Chapters must agree that all Chapter activities are focused on fostering the widespread adoption and use of OpenID.
8 - Financing
Chapters operate under the control of OIDA and receive financial support from OIDA for their local activities. The budget is voted by the OIDA Board
9 - Activities Report
Chapters must produce at least one annual activity report, in the English language. This report must be submitted to the OIDA in a timely fashion.
10 - Communications
OIDE lists the Chapter on the OIDA website (openidasia.org), and documents its existence in a list sorted by country, providing contact information and link sites to the Chapter.
11 - Territories
OIDE will designate only one official, “National” Chapter per country. Only by special derogation, will OIDA accept a Chapter pertaining to a specific region within a country.
12 - Commitments
OIDE will not alter the present “Chapters Policy” without the consent of the Chapters who have accepted it.
13 - Membership
All Members of the National Chapter automatically become Members also of OIDA, and are listed on the OIDA site.
14 - Community Board
If the seat reserved for that country is still available on the Community Board of OIDA, one person, designed by the Chapter, can introduce a request for membership of the OIDA Community Board.
15 - Chapter removal
If a Chapter has violated the Chapters Policy, and the violation has not been corrected and completely resolved within 3 months after a written notice by OIDA, OIDA can remove that Chapter from its listings. The de-listing of a Chapter must be voted by the OIDA Board.
